Top 5 Paintball Tactics

April 11th, 2009 by Leave a reply »

Learning paintball tactics requires three simple things:
1) Practice
2) Study
3) Willingness to accept that fact that you do not know everything and that you can get better after each game.

Paintball tactics can be taught, but you must be willing to learn them. So before I give you some very key paintball tactics, please remember that fact. Also, be willing to spend some time researching good paintball tactics. Whether it be team paintball tactics, 3 man paintball tactics, or scenario paintball tactics you will be able to find some great information on the web about them all, and this will help you become an amazing paintball tactician.

Of course, you will need to do more than just research, you will need to find ways to implement the paintball tactics into your games and review those tactics both mentally and with your teammates.

So, with that being said, here is a great list of great paintball tactics everyone should know and work on in becoming a paintball tactician:

First, be ready to move at all times. Too often I find someone plastered up against some paintball barricade, not being able to move without getting plastered by paint. This paintball tip is especially important if you are working on improving your team paintballing tactics. A team that does not move dies.

Second, be a small target. A good paintball tactic is to not get hit (duh), but so many people forget to be a small target and run standing straight up, or with their hopper or marker sticking out of their cover.

Third, do not hide behind the same shelter as another person on your team. What would the point be? A much more effective team paintball tactic would be to position each of you behind different targets so one can shoot and or cover for the other person.

Fourth, if your buddy gets shot, don’t be stupid and follow him into the same area. Yes, again this is a pretty obvious paintball tactic, but it is one that routinely happens in games. If you follow your shot teammate, you will continue to follow them out of the game.

Fifth (and this pertains more to team paintballing tactics than other games), do not be predicable in your paintball strategy. In other words, do not send one group up the middle, one up the left, and one up the right. And do not divide up in even numbers when doing so. Try to actually outthink and out strategize your paintball opponent. At the same time, be prepared for idiots who do not listen to this simple team paintballing tactic, and be ready to pick them off like sitting ducks when they do.

Finally, communicate. If you are going to sit down and strategize and have one of your team members use a paintball sniper tactic, then don’t forget about communicating with them either. Work as a team, and your team will win.

Ultimately, if you have good paintball tactics, patience, and practice, then you will do great and have blast doing it. Also, I would strongly recommend looking for a good paintball tactics book to purchase or browse. Use the internet, as you will find amazing tactical paintball resources there.
